In between other things lately, I've been toying with some new fabric designs.  It's been a while since I put any out, and I'd like to share one that I just got samples back of.

For reference, this swatch is approximately 5" x 5".  It's printed on some pretty Silk Crepe de Chine, and feels really lovely.  I think I may try making myself a blouse out of it.

Please let me know what you think!  I'll update my website with it very shortly, and will share the other designs when I get them finalized.

*UPDATE: I've added the fabric to my website, and it can now be found here.

As promised, there's another project that I worked on for Mjölk.  They've posted a little about it on their blog, Kitka, and the three photos above were taken by owner, John, for his Instagram feed.  You can follow both John and Juli's photos through their Twitter account.

Yesterday, I made a delivery.

I'd been asked by John and Juli, (of Mjölk), to do a commission of their two cats.  I had a lot of fun coming up with the idea for this painting.  First off, their cats are beautiful, and were a lot of fun to paint.  But I also wanted to include something in the painting that was very personal to them, so I chose to include their beautiful Berber rug that they acquired while thrifting in Scandinavia.  I thought it was beautifully designed and would be a lot of fun to replicate.  Truth-be-told, it wasn't always fun to paint.  It was quite difficult because, as you can see, there's a fair bit of detail in it.  I'm so happy with the finished project though!

I just finished work on another project with them that I'm excited to show very soon!

I just received a copy of Annabelle Magazine in the mail.  Annabelle is a woman's magazine based out of Switzerland, and they'd asked me to do an illustration for a story in their spring  Age is No Issue, issue.

The article is about middle-aged women, (in their fifties and older), who are having wonderful love lives because they're comfortable and confident and well established at that age.  It was a lot of fun to do!  (Also, the leery one in the top left is modelled after our cat, Dre!  haha!).

Just so you're prepared, the next couple of days are going to be cat posts!  Don't say I didn't warn you!

April 9th 2012

Chris and I will be travelling quite a lot this spring.  We've been trying to plan a couple of trips for ages now, and they're finally coming together.

We'd won airline tickets, (yay!), and have been thinking about how we could use them; so we're planning a trip to San Francisco in just under a month.

We've also been trying to plan a honeymoon for nearly a year now, and we finally got a bit of time and booked it!  We're heading to Iceland near the end of June, when it'll be peak time for the midnight sun.  I can't wait to experience that.  From what I've seen of it, it looks quite beautiful!

If you've been to either of these places, and have tips for us; perhaps places to visit, or eat or stay, please let me know!

Also, some other good news:

Just over a week ago today, Juli and John of Mjölk and Kitka Design Toronto just had a beautiful baby girl.  They just posted about her on their blog.  I had the pleasure of meeting her yesterday, and she's a pretty perfect little baby!  She was so quiet and pretty!  And it was really sweet to see their cat, Isha, interact with her.

Another friend, Celine, is due at any moment!  I can't wait to meet their little girl too!

What an exciting time!

I'd nearly forgotten!  I wanted to share a small collection of photos that I took with the Leica I've borrowed from a friend.  I've been having so much fun with it!  It takes really beautiful photos, and I love lugging it around.  It's a lovely old thing.

April 3rd 2012

It seems to be a week of magazines!

I just got a delivery to the door.  It was a very large, very well wrapped in a foil envelope, copy of ElleGirl Korea.  They'd recently asked if I'd share the photos Anabela had taken of our home and studio space for her blog, and Anabela was happy to share them!  The article features the homes of a few different international creators, designers and artists, and we were all asked questions about how we decorated our homes and studios.  It was so nice to see it in print!  (And the rest of the magazine is pretty fantastic, too!).

I also picked up a copy of Cottage Life this morning because I knew John and Juli, (of Mjölk and Kitka Design Blog), had their cottage featured in the latest issue.  I didn't realize, however, that there was a photo with my Dalahäst Blå silkscreen print in it!  How exciting.  (Huge congratulations to them both for the wonderful new edition to the family!).
