Today has been a pretty full spectrum of good to bad. Actually, starting bad, but going better.

It started with us waking up to find that Chris' bike had been stolen off our porch last night. And we didn't hear a sound. It breaks my heart that his bike was taken, especially after Chris surprised me with a new bike a couple of weeks ago. He rides everywhere. It's his only mode of transportation. So if you're local, and you see someone riding this bike, (a Cannondale frame turned matte silver, with a gold fork, black fenders and seat, and (possibly still?) red BMX handlebar pad), please let us know!

Very lucky for me, my bike, which had been locked to Chris', wasn't stolen. (I will be getting a very good lock in the very near future, so leave it alone, thieves!). That was one good thing.

Another was getting a couple of frames finished and making a good batch of lemonade. But I'll admit, the bike thing made the whole day a little greyer.

  1. URGGHHH!!!! THIEVES ARE THE WORST! I hope they fall right off that bike when they get stuck in the streetcar tracks and break their stupid faces. Then you will know who did it because they will have BROKE FACE! RARRRRR!

  3. NOOOOO!!! We've had our bikes stolen from our backyard before, and I felt so utterly violated.
i know how chris' bike looks like, Jin and I will definitely look out for it.
What kind of lock did you guys have?? It makes me worried now, as our bikes are just locked together at the front of our house too. Get a kryptonite lock!!!

  6. Thanks everyone!
I hope we find it, but chances are, we won't. Even though it's a for a bad reason, at least Chris can get a new bike now.
And Celine, we have the smaller Kryptonite locks for both bikes, but the part that was broken into was the Kryptonite cable that I use to go through my wheels. We tried testing a pair of bolt cutters on the remaining cable, and it took a lot of effort. Someone must have really wanted his bike! I'm going to get a good, THICK chain lock now.

  7. Oh that IS the worst - I feel like every Torontonian has felt the sting of bike theft. Why can't we live in a society where bikes don't even need to be locked (Copenhagen!). Sigh...

  8. Oh, and Amsterdam and Tokyo! So many places where people know better than to steal something so special to people! I wish...
I've actually had two different bikes stolen in the seven or so years that I've lived in this city. (And once, I had my bike stolen, found it, and took it back!).
